Leading provider of electronic component CAD models, SamacSys, has completed a new integration with the leading supplier of PCB design tools, Altium. The collaboration will support Altium customers by directly integrating the SamacSys platform of free design resources, including PCB footprints, schematic symbols and 3D models for more than 15 million components.

According to Alex MacDougall, CEO at SamacSys, being able to integrate SamacSys’ eCAD model platform within the Altium product range is an exciting development. By enhancing Altium’s suite of PCB tools with its CAD models, SamacSys is providing direct access to these vital assets, making the engineering design process far more efficient and effective, and saving critical time for users. They look forward to a successful collaboration between two companies, and to delivering an enhanced customer experience.

A global leader in component library solutions, SamacSys has over 200,000 users in more than 180 countries; its customers range from individual makers to professional engineers to international brands. Altium’s integration with SamacSys will further complement the technical support, service, tools and resources that Altium already provides for more than 100,000 customers worldwide.

Altium is one of the leading suppliers of PCB design software tools. Its flagship product, Altium Designer is known for excellence in native 3D printed circuit board (PCB) computer aided design. By incorporating all the tools engineers and PCB designers need into a single, stress-free user interface, Altium Designer dramatically increases design successes, while reducing overall design times. From concept to PCB design, 3D modelling, and output generation for final manufacture, it provides an efficient, powerful workflow for board-level electronics designers.
