Kurtz Ersa's MOBILE SCOPE Redefines Solder Joint Inspection in Electronics Manufacturing712370

Kurtz Ersa announced the introduction of the MOBILE SCOPE optical inspection system, a compact and portable video microscope designed for fast inspection of hidden solder joints, addressing critical quality control needs in the industry.
The MOBILE SCOPE boasts a hand-guided system for swift examination of solder joints in various electronic components, including ball grid array (BGA), μBGA, CSP, and flip chip devices. Equipped with two quick-change objectives, the system offers a 90° BGA optics option (with an approximate 280 µm gap) and a 0° macro zoom inspection optics alternative.

Key features of the MOBILE SCOPE include integrated and dimmable LED illumination, a 5-megapixel N-MOS color camera with USB connection, and an additional LED fiber light included with BGA optics. The system is specifically designed for high flexibility and speed in handheld inspection, making it ideal for constantly changing locations and servicing requirements.

The Kurtz Ersa ImageDoc v3 inspection software (basic version) is included with the MOBILE SCOPE, enhancing its functionality and providing users with powerful tools for inspection and analysis. This software facilitates the evaluation of hidden solder joints and more, offering high flexibility and speed for handheld inspections of various electronic components.

The MOBILE SCOPE's applications extend to the inspection of BGA, μBGA, CSP, FlipChip, CGA, and step-through on THT connections. Additionally, it enables the evaluation of heel fills on QFP, SOIC, and other gull-wing terminated devices, as well as the assessment of wetting length and internal wetting on PLCC and J-terminated devices.

The basic unit of the Ersa MOBILE SCOPE has compact dimensions (LxWxH) of 114 x 36 x 51 mm (without cable) and a weight of 210 g. The integrated optical system features a built-in camera and LED light source, with a plastic design and built-in lens providing a 3 mm field of view. The system is further equipped with a focus adjustment ring on optics and USB 2.0 connections (USB-A, length 2.5 m), ensuring seamless integration and usability.

The Ersa MOBILE SCOPE sets a new standard in optical inspection, offering a comprehensive solution for efficient and accurate solder joint assessments in the ever-evolving landscape of electronics manufacturing.
